I'm finishing four paintings a week this year. That's 48 total.
I recently finished this lemon and lime painting and I am really happy with where it's going. I used a reference photo which is easier for me than life because it's been cropped and the values adjusted to be optimal. All I have to do is reference it. Real life has seemingly endless color subtleties but photos are simple and flat. Often times I will photograph my still life setup to be able to 'see it better'. I'm hoping with time I'll build the skills to simplify colors in real time. Still, I'm making good progress. But there are just a few details left. This is the tough part for me, figuring out how to wrap it up. I've never been good at conclusions. Well that's it.
