Behold, in all it's glory! This is a painting of McAfee's Knob, a popular hiking spot in West Virginia. Believe it or not, these colors have been 'toned down' from my regular pallet.
I was really excited to get this commission because even though I struggle adjusting my colors to anything but neon, I knew that I could get away with more if it was a sunset. So it all worked out in the end. I think it's really cool when people get paintings of places they've visited and loved because paintings are kind of like memories. They're not quite accurate but they capture the spirit of the place, enough to take us back to that time. Almost like a short-cut to a part of the past that we enjoy.
