I decided I would complete four paintings this month. That's not an easy task for me. I'm very good at starting paintings, but only finishing them many months later. I get about half way done and then stop because I love what I've done so far and don't want to 'ruin' it by continuing on. There's a life lesson in there somewhere.

This was where I had left off, minus the barn. Most of my paintings are 'too cool' leaning towards blue and green. I thought I could warm things up with a hot underpainting. I think it worked. But I like cool pallets, so I can't say I tried that hard. I started by adding in the barn.

This was the reference photo I was working from. Many working farms have bland modern barns and outbuildings like this one, although antique barns still hang around. Just down the road there is a classic red barn so I decided to transplant it into this background.

I was able to finish it in one day which felt amazing. I drive down this road a lot and it was fun to immortalize the view. 10"x20" oil on canvas
